The African Lion Safari!

July 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday, my dad and I, along with friends, went to the African Lion Safari. It was a very interesting place for a number of reasons. To begin with, we went to the drive-through. There, we drove along a long path where animals of all types were roaming free. We saw lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, ostriches, monkeys, and many more animals. I’d have to say that the seeing the monkeys was the high part of the trip. They jumped on to cars, sat on them ( even on the mirrors), walked around on them, and banged on the roof. We fed the monkey’s a great deal of food, from chips to banana peels, which we weren’t supposed to do, and in return we got a few warnings, from the people who worked there. We then continued to drive on until we came upon a herd of buffalo. We drove on until the buffalo decided to go onto the road in front of us, blocking our path. We were stuck there for a long time.

After the drive-through, we had lunch, and then we took the African Queen Boat Tour. It showed us the many amazing animals inhabiting the numerous mini-islands of the safari. After that got an elephant ride. We then went to see the Birds of Prey show. We left early because we wanted to see the elephant show and we wanted to secure ourselves good seats. The elephant show was quite interesting. The four elephants there performed a number of neat tricks like standing up on their front feat and their back feat, slam dunking a basketball, playing soccer, painting,  and many other things. Once again, we left the show early because we wanted to attend the Parrot Paradise show. There a number of different birds, from parrats to crows, did things like recycle bottles and cans, run obstacle courses and ride bikes, fly, and entertain us by talking and singing. It was quite a performance.

The African Lion Safari was an amazing place, and it is also very educational, and I think that everyone should go there at least once.

Jumper!

July 16, 2008 · 1 Comment

Very intriguing, entertaining, and original.

Last night, I watched the movie Jumper, starring Hayden Christensen, who also played Anakin Skywalker in the movies Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Samuel L. Jackson. I think very highly of it and I think that it’s worth watching. It had a great plot and incredible acting, and it was truly entertaining. A genetic anomaly allows a young man ( David Rice, portrayed by Hayden Christensen) to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers his gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between “Jumpers” and those who have sworn to kill them. Rated PG-13. Based on the 1992 science fiction novel Jumper by Steven Gould.

Here is a link of the movie at IMDB ( The Internet Movie Data Base): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489099/

Best Video Game ever?

July 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, for the PS3, is the most technically stunning video game ever made. It’s also a fine example of storytelling prowess within its medium, combining gameplay and narrative so slickly and beautifully that it’s impossible to extricate one from the other. It’s likely you will emerge awestruck from your first play-through, wishing the experience would continue yet nonetheless satisfied with its conclusion. It’s difficult not to sound hyperbolic when discussing MGS4 because every part of its design seemingly fulfills its vision, without compromise. There is no halfway.

Framed?

July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

As of the year 2008, I have taken a keen interest in movies where an innocent member of society is framed for something he did not do, and he sets off to track down the actual culprit. This genre of movies includes The Negotiator, starring Samuel L. Jackson, U.S. Marshals, starring Tommy Lee Jones, and The Fugitive, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford. Please note that U.S. Marshals is the sequel to The Fugitive. I watched each of these movies and enjoyed them very much, and each one of them included a bit of humour, but I must warn you that The Negotiator posessed a disagreeable amount of swearing in it, mostly the “F” word. For more information on these movies and more, visit www.imdb.com (The Internet Movie Database). I have listed specific links of these three movies at the IMDB below.

The Fugitive: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106977/

U.S. Marshals: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120873/

The Negotiator: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120768/

Below, there is  a picture of the DVD cover of each of these movies, and a description of each movie.

The Negotiator:

Fast paced, well made, and powerful thriller.

A hostage negotiator in Chicago is set up for a murder and, in order to clear his name, takes a group hostage and ferrets out the guilty party.

The Fugitive:

An exciting and thrilling chase movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

A man is forced to go on the run after being falsely accused of killing his wife, and track down the real culprit.

U.S. Marshals:

A suspenceful sequel to The Fugitive.

U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard and his street-smart deputies pursue Sheridan, a new fugitive who is accused of two New York assassinations. Aiding Gerard is a cocky young government operative who proves to be a match for Gerard’s tactical and intellectual strengths.Machine Gun Shooting
